Valhalla Social Cinema’s much anticipated Sci-Fi movie marathon will take place at the Electron Workshop this weekend!

Our inaugural movie marathon. You’ve been patient, Melbourne. Now wait no longer. Doors open 10am. First film starts 10.30am sharp. Presented in hi-def and spanning six decades of ground-breaking science fiction, this ain’t your daddy’s movie marathon. Side stepping the meh into 12 exceptional genre pieces, this is thinking man’s sci-fi smeared with gore and blockbuster, brought to screen by pioneers who directed as if their meal tickets depended on it. Short films will also screen between features, completing a massive lineup. Stimulating debates with your cohorts are strongly encouraged. Melbourne’s 24 hour extravaganza from yesteryear is back, just in a slightly different cut.

Audience capacity limited to 55 people. Canvas deck chairs provided for the ultimate in comfort, but feel free to bring a blanket. Food for sale on the day includes single-origin coffee and delicious snacks at staggeringly reasonable prices. Or BYO food — up to you.

Unfortunately, tickets are SOLD OUT! Check out Valhalla Cinema to sign up for future events.

“Welcome, also, to our new winter home: Electron Workshop. In spite
of our dogged “portable” mantra, there is harmony between our
philosophy of sharing film and the repurposed, environmental
aspirations of a converted warehouse from the 1920s. 100%
carbon-offset electricity, energy efficient heating and easy CBD
access meant we’d found the venue for not only the sci-fi marathon,
but also a haven for coming events in the coldest months. We hope
you come to love it as much as we have.”
